A-Plus Industries, Inc. was founded in 1990 by CEO and President, William Cook. His experience at Hamilton Avnet and Arrow Electronics, lead to his belief in the need for a smaller niche market that was being overlooked by the big distributors. Many of his customers expressed a serious problem locating components that were no longer being made. Some items were actually being obsoleted 3 years after their inception. “That's when I realized there was a serious market for obsolete electronic parts” The company was formed. The focus was set and 13 years later A-Plus Industries has one of the largest inventories of parts that are very difficult to acquire through everyday channels. These parts are obsolete but still in very high demand. Try finding a KR9600-Pro through Arrow Electronics Treasurer and secretary, Glorinda Cook joined A-Plus in 1993. Seeing that the company was on the fast track and in serious need of administrative help, Glorinda brought to A-Plus her 10 years experience in the insurance business at Met Life. Her vast knowledge of corporate admin brought many advantages to A-Plus. “During the first few years we saw growth of 200 percent a year. We went from 3 Employees to 25 in two years alone. Bill was a great salesman but needed more than a hand with all the aspects of running a business.” Her input made a huge difference right from the beginning. While trying to find a larger facility to support the business they decided to move from Long Island, NY to Allentown, PA. The timing was perfect. The company quickly re-established itself in a massive brick building that takes up an entire city block. “ We got here and we were extremely pleased with the value of this community in terms of taxes and price per square foot for real estate.” The company's move was a complete success..
