Ok so this time the question is more obvious than why we recycle other items. But recycling batteries is not as simple as it sounds.
Some battery types have recycling value and some are just nothing but toxic waste. Here is the basics when batteries get recycled.

Recycling batteries of all types typically involves a multi-step process:Sorting: Batteries are sorted by type and chemistry, such as lead-acid, nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal-hydride, lithium-ion, and others.Breaking down: The batteries are broken down into their component parts, such as lead plates and electrolyte for lead-acid batteries, nickel, and cadmium for nickel-cadmium batteries, cobalt and lithium for lithium-ion batteries.Metals separation: The metals are separated from the other materials using a variety of techniques such as smelting, electroplating, or chemical processes.Purification: The metals are purified to remove impurities and to prepare them for reuse.Reuse: The metals are reused in the production of new batteries or other products.Disposal: Any remaining waste materials, such as plastics and electrolytes, are sent to a facility for proper disposal to avoid environmental hazards.
